Trying out beats

This is the first time I got late. I arrived at 9:11 a.m. at the office. It is because I left the house very late. I'm very sorry about this! :( I continued the data base for voice talents that was tasked on me. I started uploading on soundclound.com but the site says that the number of files to be uploaded is limited. It cannot accommodate all the sound files I need to upload. So, It urges me to buy premium account if I want to upload more. I asked the staff about this and they said I should make another account. But doing so is too hassle because I only have few emails to make a new account. And even with my emails combined, I cannot upload all of the sound files. I am now thinking of finding a new site to upload which is 4shared. But I have to ask the boss and the staff if they would agree with me.

 

Later on, I was told to go downstairs to get the Boss' pictures and make a collage about him. He says he wants it to be creative because the collage near our office entrance is quite old and he thinks he needs a new collage. He wanted me to trace his pictures with celebrities and cut it off from the background. It was quite difficult because he has met a lot of people already and I had to cut 100+ pictures, but after realizing that not all of it will fit into the collage, I just edited only 20+ pictures of him with the celebrities and only 20+ pictures of him at different countries as well. Before the end of the day, I was getting slower with my work because my laptop was over heating and my head is starting to ache due to radiation, so I had to rest first and continue the work the next day.

I continue my task. And finally I had to form the collage resembling his face. I had something in my mind on how to do it, but I never did it. So, all of my knowledge was theoretical.

But somehow, I was able to prove my plans to be correct. I was able to make it. But I don't know if the boss will actually like it. The picture was the size of a half illustration board. But at the end of the day, I realized it was too small and it should be as big as a whole illustration board. So, I have to redo everything on Monday. (I unfortunately overslept on Sunday and done a lot of chores afterwards.) That is why I was not able to show the boss the result in this day.

So, I made it monochromatic (Warm colors) because it represents the Boss' power and fiery compassion with his work, and then put a starry design and beams - this is where the celebrities are placed. I colored the star beams by lines, not by gradient so it will give a retro feel.

 

I was happy with the task because somehow, I learned a new way in doing mosaic and collage in the form of stenciling digitally, lol :D.

Sorry for the late post. Our second week in Creativoices is quite light compared to our first week. Because we are finished in the editing phase of the audio book. And now we move on to the next phase.


I am just quite sad that we only had two days to do our OJT this week because we had our graduation photo shoot last December 7, 2011. Thus, scraping off the Wednesday of our W-TH-F OJT schedule.

Day 5 - Dec. 8, 2011 

We started the next phase and hopefully the last which is proof reading. Audio books needs to be proof read before we finalize it. What we do is we listen to the draft of the audio book and read the its script at the same time. If we find some stuff that doesn't go according to the script and other sort of errors, we write it down on a form. The form is specialized for our proof reading and it is designed by Roemina, the Writer and Communications Manager of Creativoices.

So there, we started proof reading the audio books for Grades 1-4. It was still tiring because I face my laptop the whole day and the radiation is just overwhelming. But we got decent rest after because we did our best to finish early.

This time, only I stayed at Creativoices to sleep. My package deal group mates Psalm-well decided to stay at his Uncle's at Mandaluyong and Aljkka said she will be fine with going home everyday. I got asleep quite late.



Day 6 - Dec. 9, 2011 

We continued our proof reading for the books of Grades 5-6. It was quite tiring so there are times that I get asleep while reading so when I wake up, I go back to the part of the track before I got sleep so I will be able to proof read it effectively. Fortunately, I was able to finish early and continued the other task the boss gave me, to organize voice samples of his voice talents. I also finished sorting it but I also have to upload them at sound cloud.com. I would like to propose another form of database for his voice talents but I'm just going to suggest it next week when I go back.

Composing my new song

I made this blog primarily as one of the requirements for my On-The-Job training class. I now work as an intern at Creativoices Productions and they required me to make a blog where I will put my journal. My journal will feature my experiences in my life as an Intern. So, let's start for this week!

3 days before starting my work at Creativoices, I made a personification of the Creativoices logo. I named her Creatia (for no particular reason) She is my motivator on going at Creativoices for the first time. She always remind me that I have talent and every company has needs for elegant people like me.

Lol! It's not I am boastful, I just don't want to down myself too much. I know I'm not the best but I know I'll never be the worst.

Day 1 - Nov. 24, 2011

This is the day of my interview. I did my best to show that I am a person who works professionally, and has lots of talents to work for them. But what I really need to do is to work properly and gain their trust and I will go a long way. In the end, they accepted me and I am thankful for that specially for my best friend Roemina who helped me.



Day 1.A - Nov. 25, 2011

This is our first day my work. Ate Jela oriented us what to do which is editing sound recorded files and gave me a copy of the software needed to be used. I was glad that I was able to follow and do my task.

The current project of Creativoices is an Audio Book for Rex Publishing. The Audio book are sets of English learning books for elementary students. When the voice talents are finished in their recording, Ate Jela brings the files to us so we could edit it like whe cut the wrong takes of the recording in leave the good ones.

Overall, I was happy because I learned something new and got myself familiar with sound editing.

Day 2 - Nov. 30, 2011

We continue editing the audio book. It was quite tiring because I sat in front of the computer the whole day editing sound files. My eyes tells me to stop because it was tired but my body seems to not follow as I continue finishing my work. I enjoy listening to the voice of Ate Carla (the voice talent) because she has a relaxing voice that made me not mind of my tired eyes because my ears are relaxed. I feel totally brought in a fantasy world (for kids) Lol.

Day 3 - Dec. 1, 2011

Hooray! We finished all the female voices at this day. I'm so excited for the final result of the Audio Book. I feel happy whenever I hear the final draft of Ate Jela, like there is a sound effect before the "link to reading" is mentioned, I feel so fulfilled. Lol I am feeling that all our hard work is slowly forming into a master peice.

Also, Thanks to Ms. Eve, the lady representative of Rex Bookstore for the free lunch and merienda which are not just food, but delicious food!

Day 4 - Dec. 2, 2011

I was not busy on the first half of the day because the talent isn't there to record his part, so I have nothing to edit. I had a very long break which turned into boredom. To be honest, I didn't like what happened.


But It all got better because even the talent came late, he was very skilled that I only had to edit few parts of his recording, that is why even I started late in editing, I was also able to finish on time. But If he was able to attend early, for sure, the book will be completed early too.

Then our boss, the Voice Master gave us a project - to make an AVP for a client. I don't know if he is serious leaving a big part of the work to us but I really appreciate that he showed trust to us. That is why if this is really true, I will really do my best in this project.

Final part is when, I ate Ice cream with Roemina, my best friend. It was short but I enjoyed it. It's like everyday is a reunion. And I act, as if is I were her child, I show her almost everything I got on my laptop and constantly sharing my experiences to her and listening to her experiences as well. She is the best! :D



Overall, my first week was a success. I enjoy my work and being tired is not a reason to be sad about it, because when you work, it is given that you'll be tired. But the choice of being happy is still yours. I don't feel pressured at all, maybe because it's just my first week. They said that it is hard working here but I don't see it happening yet. I know what I do is tiring and difficult, but I don't find myself miserable. Even though I can't paint what our boss is, I know he is the best and he made a happy family in this production. He gives us ways to really learn. I am contented with my work and I hope I will be like this even when my practicum ends.
